Does your foundation need repair? Our trained mentor couples have been through it all. If you are facing a crisis, please don’t give up! We will pair you with a mentor couple who is best suited to help you through this tough time.

WHAT IS MENTORING?

Great Marriages does not offer traditional marriage counseling, we offer a skills-based mentoring program.

Couple-to-couple mentoring is an educational program that will teach you the skills to have a happy, life-long relationship. You will learn how to communicate and deal with conflict in a healthy manner, along with other foundational tools.

We pair you with one of our relationship mentor couples, who have been trained in the program and have been married for at least 10 years.

We use the Prepare/Enrich online assessment to get a solid understanding of the strengths and weaknesses in your relationship. We implement other relationship tools to create emotional bonding and teach skills such as: conflict resolution, effective communication, sex, finances, etc. to help you address any challenges you are experiencing.

This program differs from traditional counseling or therapy in that it is couple-to-couple mentoring— you will always meet together with the relationship mentor couple, and you will learn and practice the skills together.

Cost: There is an initial registration fee of $75 per couple for the Prepare/Enrich online assessment, then mentoring sessions are FREE (donations accepted).

Dating, Engaged, or Married: We use the same program for all couples regardless of what stage your relationship is in. The mentor program is an excellent program to address challenges or to build a firm foundation for a life-long commitment. 

Non-Faith or Faith Based Options: The Prepare/Enrich assessment and other tools can be offered as either a non-religious or a Christian faith-based program. The curriculum is identical, however the faith-based program adds Bible verses to the lessons, and the non-religious program has philosophical quotes.

Our couple-to-couple mentoring program is not for everyone.

If you are dealing with an active addiction we can provide recommendations for counselors or for a comprehensive list visit Mental Health America Lakeshore. (If you are already in counseling/therapy, mentoring along with counseling may be effective.)

If you or your significant other are not willing to work at your relationship, our mentor couples need to spend their time with someone who is serious about making their relationship better. Wait to sign up until you are both ready to work at it.

THIS IS HOW IT WORKS:

  • When you fill out the form, you will each receive an email from Prepare/Enrich containing a login code to take the online assessment.

  • If you are having financial difficulties and cannot pay the $50 registration fee, please call Great Marriages at 920.783.6142 before registering.

  • To be most effective and accurate, you’ll each need to take the assessment separately. Honesty is critical to give us an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses in your relationship.

  • As soon as you both have completed the assessment, we will start looking for a mentor couple to work with you.

  • Your assigned mentor couple will contact you directly and set up the sessions.

  • Our mentors are flexible to meet when you are available, be that days/evenings/weekends/etc.

  • Mentoring sessions typically last 1-2 hours. How many sessions you have will depend on how much time is taken to go through the material.

  • Couples typically meet at the Great Marriages offices in Sheboygan or Plymouth.
